Two findings changed the next step
The suspension inspection identified four front control arms needing replacement. Separately, one front tire was deformed and also needed replacement before alignment.
Those findings gave the visit a specific sequence: address the suspension and tire conditions, then complete the alignment. They also gave the customer concrete items to review in the estimate. The control-arm work, tire replacement and subsequent alignment were distinct parts of the proposed work.
If an alignment appointment produces a repair estimate, ask the technician to explain each finding and its place in the plan. Knowing which condition a proposed repair addresses helps you understand why adjustment is being deferred.
The starting condition for a Model X alignment
Tesla's Model X alignment-check procedures assume that the suspension is functioning as intended. Both the 2015–2020 procedure and the 2021-and-newer procedure state that prerequisite. The technician must use the procedure and specifications appropriate to the vehicle.
On this Model X, inspection had identified suspension components requiring replacement. Correcting wheel angles alone would not replace those components or resolve the deformed tire.
What the printout and estimate gave the owner
The measurement printout recorded the pre-alignment check, while the estimate set out the proposed repairs. Together, they gave the owner a basis for discussing the next work before a final alignment could be performed.
Keep those documents if you are considering similar work. Ask which parts are included, how the tire concern will be addressed and what alignment work follows. After the repairs, the completed paperwork can be reviewed against the original plan.
