Collision repair and insurance claims: what happens next.

An insurance estimate and a repair plan are related, but they are not the same document. Calibri can help document visible damage and communicate during estimate and repair authorization.

01

Handle safety and documentation

Take care of immediate safety needs first. When it is safe, photograph the full vehicle, damaged areas, dashboard warnings, and wider impact context.

02

Share the initial information

Send the vehicle details, visible damage, driveable status, insurance context, and photographs. A photo review helps plan the next step but does not establish a final scope.

03

Inspect the vehicle

An in-person inspection—and sometimes disassembly—may reveal damage that photographs or an initial insurer estimate could not show.

04

Review the repair plan

Known operations, the parts approach, outside services if any, expected timing, and customer-responsible amount should be reviewed before work is authorized.

05

Address changes

If additional damage is found, the repair plan may change. The finding can be documented and submitted for any additional review or authorization.

06

Authorize, complete, and prepare for pickup

The vehicle owner authorizes the repair. Work remains tied to the authorized plan, and changes should be discussed before added work proceeds. After Calibri completes an insurance-claim collision repair, we include a complimentary exterior wash before pickup when the vehicle and completed repair are suitable for washing.

Coverage remains policy-specific.

Your policy and insurer determine coverage, deductible, parts decisions, payment, and approvals. This page provides general information, not legal advice or a promise of coverage.
